Asbestos Register

No changes to register since last visit. All areas with asbestos are external (roof awnings) and away from children, staff, and visitors. Last checked 16/4/15

Fire Safety Log Book

Last call point check made by SSE 18/6/15. Full School Drill 2/7/15. Alarms checked 23/1/15. Fire doors checked23.10.15. The log book also holds a plan of school.

None.

Fire extinguishers

Last checked and serviced 2/11/2015. 5 Taken out of service and 1 refilled.

None

Fire exits

All clear. All doors checked were functioning. Doors are checked when Peter opens and locks the school, any issues are brought to staff attention.

5.

COSHH

(Control of substances hazardous to health)

COSHH data sheets up to date. Storage of cleaning materials in original containers. Where cleaning materials are decanted they are stored in clear labelled containers.

Cleaning materials are kept in a locked cupboard. Teachers have liquid soaps in classrooms and some have antibacterial sprays which are kept in cupboards and clearly labelled.

Checked and up to date – 4/11/15 last entry.

Note: this holds information from accidents during PE lesson too.

First Aid kit

Long term medical conditions

Checked. Stocked as required (no creams).

There are 3 children with allergy problems and 2 with a cronic heart condition.

None.

Epi Pen

Inhalers

Cupboard checked. Epi pens are in a sealed bag, clearly labelled with name of child on it.

Inhalers are clearly labelled and accessible.

Confirmed that stock also kept in classroom as appropriate in sealed and labelled bag.

Confirmed annual training.

None.

10.

Medicine cabinet

Checked. This is locked and contains prescribed medication.

Any medication that needs to be stored in the fridge is kept in the staffroom fridge in sealed and labelled containers.

11.

Training

Confirmed first aid training on a rolling programme. Two staff members had been on Managing Medicines training

KS1 & KS2 toilets

Toilets were checked this time, All seems to be clean and working well. All in good order

ICT suite

No health and safety issues were evident from walking around.

Internal lighting

Emergency lighting

Peter pointed out where the emergency lighting was situated around the building. Checked 20/10/2015

Outside Lighting

Outside lights are working in key walkway areas.

Two faults were reported and repairs are under way

CCTV

Cameras are all working.

None.

Cleaning

Cleaning was of a high standard. Peter works hard to continue this by talking with the cleaning team about standards.

Peter will keep up this standard.

Outside area

A wild deer was found in the grounds and safely persuaded to exit the premises. Grass area is well maintained.

PE cupboard

The cupboard was tidy and equipment was easily accessible today.

On going checks to be made by staff to make sure the area is safe and no trip hazards are evident when moving equipment about.

Storage in mobile classrooms

No problem

Smoke detectors

Peter showed where the smoke detectors were in the building. They are maintained by an external company. We have enough for the building. System working well.

General Comment:

Perimeter hedging in good order, recently trimmed.

Mr Stallybrass has an extremely good and thorough understanding of the school. He works very hard to make sure that the school is maintained to a high level, and should be congratulated for all his hard work.
