SOCS - Who we are
Our parents’ organisation, which is a Registered Charity, is known as SOCS – ‘Supporters of Castlewood School’ – and was formed not only to raise funds for the school but to foster close links between home and school in a variety of ways. There is a committee who organise events such as raffles, the Blackberry Fair, quiz evenings and discos for the children but all parents are warmly welcomed to offer help and support in any way.
SOCS is a lively, creative organisation which has made an important contribution to the life of the school, not only in the many items purchased for the school, but also in the support and help they have given at many school events.
We welcome support from all parents and carers.
Our current committee is:
Chairman – Hayley Timson
Treasurer – Nicky Redford
SOCS Family Bounce Day
SOCS (Supporters Of Castlewood School – PTA) arranges some fun events to raise money for the school. The main fundraising event is the Blackberry Fair in October. This is a very popular event with children and parents alike.

A Quiz Night for parents and staff usually takes place in March each year and SOCS arrange two discos, one for the Reception and Key Stage 1 children and one for the Key Stage 2 children annually in February.
Easter Eggstravaganza 2019
SOCS organised an Easter Eggstravaganza for the children - it raised approximately £500 and was great fun.

In warmer weather (though not always dry weather!), SOCS regularly sells ice-creams on a Friday.
SOCS Picnic & BBQ- July 2019
We had such a wonderful evening with a barbecue, picnic, bouncy castle, football and plenty of other activities.

Bounce! Bounce! Bounce!
The money that our supporters raise from these and other events is used to buy extras for the school such as leavers presents for Year 6, sports kit and new books. In particular, SOCS was very pleased recently to be able to help fund the purchase of two laptop trolleys, new individual whiteboards and reading diaries.
